Assistant Professor in Statistics
The Department of Statistics at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for one nine-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2025. The position targets candidates who have demonstrated high-quality research in any area of Statistics and are committed to excellence in teaching. Candidates with research expertise in the Design of Experiment, Big Data Analytics, Biostatistics, especially with applications to agriculture, public health, sustainability are particularly encouraged to apply. Excellence in teaching can be demonstrated through various experiences, including teaching evaluations from any appointments, such as TA or Associate-in roles. We seek individuals dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in both their research and teaching.
The Department of Statistics is home to 20 faculty members. The faculty's robust research portfolio includes funding from a broad spectrum of federal agencies (e.g., NIH and NSF) and non-profit organizations. The department has a rich tradition of collaborative environment for cross disciplinary research and training across campus including school of business, school of medicine, school of public policy and school of engineering. UCR has recently joined the Association of American Universities (AAU) in 2023, an organization of 71 of the country’s leading research universities. The UC salary consists of a base pay of $78,200 - $101,400 for Assistant Professors and additional off-scale to be commensurate with market value, qualifications and experiences. The off-scale portion of your salary will be maintained as long as satisfactory academic progress is made. Additionally, the off-scale will be maintained subject to market adjustments to the UC salary scale.
Required qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include: Applicants have demonstrated high-quality research in statistics and related fields and are committed to excellence in teaching. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or a closely related field at the time of employment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: Applicants have demonstrated high-quality research in big data in agriculture, biostatistics, public health, sustainability.
Advancement through the Professorial ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.

The Department of Statistics at the University of California invites applicants for a temporary part-time Instructor for a course, to be taught in Spring 2025 (Spring Quarter runs late March to mid-June).
The current base pay range for this position is $68,247 to $192,040.
Basic qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include: PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics or related fields.
Additional qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of hire include: Teaching and working experience in business analytics, machine learning and data science.

Post-doctoral Fellowship in Statistics
What’s the postdoc community like at UCR?
Over 200 postdocs make up the community at UCR. Every UCR postdoc is automatically a member of the Riverside Postdoctoral Association (RPA). The RPA organizes the monthly Science and Happy Hours, an informal talk from one of our postdoc members followed by snacks and drinks. The RPA also organizes a more formal postdoc symposium to showcase the research being done by postdocs at UCR.
